Milan Malpensa International is most important airport of the three based in Milan - the others being Milan Bergamo Airport and Milan Linate Airport. Malpensa airport is host to over 100 different airlines with UK and Spanish destinations including London Gatwick and Heathrow airports, Dublin, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Palma in Mallorca: handling around 20 million passengers in 2007.
Milan Malpensa airport is situated about 45km (30 miles) north west of Milan which will take you roughly 30 minutes to drive depending on traffic!
Malpensa airport consists of two main terminal buildings which are quite far apart from each other, but the airport provides a free shuttle bus which runs between them roughly every 20 minutes all day, every day. Malpensa airport has two runways and a new one which is currently under construction.
If travelling to Terminal 1 please be advised that at the moment no private vehicles have access to Arrivals due to the construction of a new hotel. All vehicles should go to the Multilevel and P3 car parks which are located opposite the railway station. Public transport will continue to have access during this time.
